The research performed by members of this IG encompasses a broad range of fundamental and applied studies of pathogen physiology, at the molecular, cellular and organismal levels, and host responses to infection, with both basic and translational investigations of immune system development and function. Diverse faculty from the departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Ecology, Entomology, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Plant Biology conduct collaborative research in these critical areas that will ultimately enhance our ability to deal with infectious threats that face society.
